Job Title: Executive Director BCAK (BC Association of Kinesiologists)

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive office of the BC Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK), providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and advocacy to fulfill the organization’s mission. This role focuses on promoting the profession of kinesiology, supporting members, and raising awareness amongst British Columbians about how kinesiologists can contribute to their health and well-being. The Executive Director will lead the BC Association of Kinesiologists, demonstrating flexibility to meet organizational needs, including occasional evening and weekend commitments. The role offers autonomy to manage priorities while achieving the association’s mission and objectives. 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, fosters government and stakeholder relations, and oversees the effective delivery of member services and organizational initiatives. This position provides oversight to direct reports, including the Operations Manager, administrative and contracted employees. 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, or a degree in an allied health profession, or a related field, such as a business degree with a specialization in healthcare.

Minimum of five years in a healthcare related leadership role and/or in a nonprofit or professional association setting. 

Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey the organization’s mission and initiatives. 

Comprehensive understanding of the BC Societies Act, privacy legislation, and not-for-profit tax laws. 

Comprehensive understanding of the BC Health Professions Act and the recent changes to healthcare regulations in the province.

Proven success in strategic planning, advocacy, and government relations.

Experience in culturally diverse settings.

A valid Criminal Record Check clearance letter confirming the absence of criminal conviction or charges – issued by the BC Criminal Record Review Program. This is required by all professional members of the BCAK and administration staff. 

A valid Canadian Driver’s License. 

Canadian citizen or permanent resident status. 

Acceptable credit rating and must pass a background check.

Additional Information:

Competitive Salary $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience. 

Three weeks of paid vacation annually. 

A $3,000 annual health spending account. 

Mileage is reimbursed at the CRA travel and KM expense rate. 

$50 monthly allowance for cell phone reimbursement
