This interactive course will inspire you to explore how the evidence-based, client-centred approach of MI can be applied in your professional practice.

What is Motivational Interviewing?

Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based, client-centred therapeutic method that fosters behavioural change by helping clients identify and resolve ambivalence around their attitudes and beliefs. MI has been successfully implemented in various clinical settings and applied to numerous health conditions. It is effective in reducing maladaptive behaviours such as alcohol abuse, drug addiction, and smoking, as well as promoting healthy behaviour changes like weight loss, medication adherence, increased physical activity, and return to work. The versatility of MI across diverse issues, its focused and specific interactions, and its practicality, when combined with other active treatment methods, have piqued the interest of many healthcare practitioners, leading to further exploration of MI's potential in various healthcare practices.
